Following the demise of the junior Erie Thunderbirds in 1984, the Erie Thunderbirds Alumni corps came together in 1991, augmented by veterans of other area drum corps. The Thunderbirds have been very successful in DCA Mini Corps competition, winning the titles five times in the 1990s. The corps continues to entertain in the Erie, Pennesylvania, area. St. Patrick's Day is a favorite, as the corps, ages teens to seniors, takes on the thankless responsibility of entertaining the local "adult beverage establishments." [DCW, 4/02, p.26] |
