"Southern Rebels Drum & Bugle Corps|
...This season marks the 3rd year of field competition for the Rebels, which started with the '67 VFW Nationals followed by the '68 Florida Invitational, contests on tour in New York; New Haven, Conn.; Willingboro, N.J. and the '68 American Legion Nationals. Plans for this year thus far include a tour for contests and parades in Indiana and Illinois and the American Legion Contest in Atlanta. The corps will have a stronger staff of instructors this year due to the addition of one out-of-state and one local instructor. The corps is enthused with the addition of Larry McCormick, two repeaters, Hank Grana and Carl Wischler, all from Chicago. Locally the addition of Don "PeeWee" Lazaroe with Fred Tujague on M&M, Ray Millet on Color Guard, Jeff Castaing and Roger Wahden on drums and Charles Gai, Jr. on horns, indicates improvements. As of March, the corps has completed 4 minutes of their field show with 27 horns, 12 drums and 28 in the guard."
