With the success of the Blue Devils ‘A’ corps in reaching DCI associate status in 1973, the Blue Devil organization’s junior drum and bell corps was converted to a ‘B’ bugle corps, and an even younger-aged ‘C’ bugle corps was also established.
Generally a non-competitive unit, the Blue Devils 'C' is the youngest of three drum and bugle corps sponsored by the Blue Devils Parents Association. Once considered the ‘cute corps,’ BDC now displays competency as well (although they are still cute.) Membership is made up of students ages seven through fourteen from Contra Costa and Solano Counties, east of San Francisco, California. They march in parades and field events around the Bay Area, and they entertain at other non-marching festivals. The Blue Devils 'C' had the honor of performing for the 1996 U.S. Olympic Synchronized Swimming Team, the San Francisco Giants, and the Special Olympians of Contra Costa County.
The 60-member corps' 2004 show was "Arabian Nights," offered in new uniforms for the season.
