The Horizons was formed as a color guard in 1967....then formed the drum corps in 1969...at first it started as a parade corps...then in 1971 became a competing corps as part of the Garden State Circuit, the guard started competing as a winter guard also in the Garden State Circuit. In 1969 the corps had no sponsor and used the American Legion hall in Elmsford, ...in 1972 the corps moved to Hawthorne, with the Hawthorne Fire Dept. as a sponsor, it stayed in Hawthorne until 1974, when it moved top Valhalla, NY with the Valhalla Fire Dept as a sponsor, the last year of competition was 1975 and the last year for the guard was 1976.
