CORPS Photos

Originally formed as a senior group in the 1930s in Sharpsburg, Pennsylvania, the Sharpsburg Cadets had evolved into a junior marching and maneuvering corps by about 1973.

The corps appeared in field competition for the first time in 1974 with respectable results. They survived by rehearsing in a hall above a laudromat and raising money by selling hoagies. Unable to hold membership, however, the Cadets merged with the Sharpsville Blue Sabres in 1975, becoming the Sabre Cadets of Sharpsburg and Sharpsville (the two towns were 140 miles apart).

When most of the staff departed after the first camp and senior corps members took over teaching responsibilities, the corps' scores plummeted to the 30s, and the corps did not survive the 1975 season.
